Seating for 20
Wine barrels serve as tables and the bar can seat an additional four. There’s also tables and chairs that can be put onto the Canalside Patio.
Originally built in 1840, the building at 12 West Main is the oldest in the complex – and offers the most history as a result. Most notably, 12 West served as a saloon for most of its life (from 1891 until prohibition hit in 1920). When JFG purchased the building in 2003, one of the first things we did was resurrect the pub in the bottom basement (two floors below street level).
The Barge Inn is the perfect place for after-session social time. You can use the space to have informal meetings with up to 20 people. There is also access to the Canalside Patio for an additional 35 people so you can watch the boats go by right from the original towpath.
The Barge Inn is an homage to the 1903 widening of the canal, which resulted in the name changing to the Erie Barge Canal. As you sit among the walls built out of the rock excavated to build the canal, just close your eyes and imagine the scores of workers who no doubt took refuge in this same building after a long day of work on the canal.
This Space is perfect for:
- Intimate gatherings
- Breakout sessions
- Relaxation after sessions
